A Taste of the Rajah’s Life In Rural East Bali Nestled amongst some of the most spectacular scenery that Bali has to offer with the warm crystal clear ocean in the distance lays Tirta Ayu Hotel East Bali, located within the secure grounds of Tirtagangga Water Palace.

This Palace was built by and for the last Rajah, Anak Agung Anglurah Ketut Karangasem as a splendid weekend retreat. Construction began in 1947 and every day the Rajah could be seen waist deep in mud, working alongside the local craftsmen creating this amazing miniature Asian Versailles. The eruption of Mount Agung, Bali’s most sacred mountain in 1963 almost entirely devastated the water gardens and the Rajah and his family took refuge in Ubud.

Bali is so special, there is the combination of the friendly people, the natural attractions, the great variety of things to see and do, the year round pleasant climate, and then there is Bali’s special magic, which is difficult to explain.
